A woman who was arrested on suspicion of murder after the death of James Meadows has been released by police.
The 29-year-old woman, from Knowsley, was arrested on Tuesday after the teenager was shot in the head in Lyme Cross, Huyton.
Mr Meadows, 17, was gunned down in a suspected targeted attack on Sunday, at around 9.40pm.
Emergency services were called to Lyme Cross Road following reports a teenager had fallen from the back of a motorbike.
He was rushed to hospital with head injuries, which were later found to have been caused by a gun shot.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: “We can confirm that an 29-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of murder by detectives investigating the death of James Meadows, in Huyton, has been released on police bail this evening pending further enquiries.”
She was held by police for three days.
Tributes have been paid to Mr Meadows, with bouquets of flowers and candles lining the scene where the incident happened.
More than 100 messages of condolence have flooded in for him.
Writing on the ECHO’s Facebook page, Tracy Maguire said “R.i.p jay takin away far to young thinking of harry an all the meadows.”
Another poster added: “RIP James. Thinking of all the Meadows family”.
Joe McKenna added: “r i.p froggie bro love ya lad” and Maddison Roberts simply said: “RIP Froggy”.
