Our resident Manchester United supporters in the Transfer Tavern would be deeply concerned if David De Gea were to join Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. While that’s been a fear for a while now, the idea of losing the Spaniard just as things are looking up would be a gut punch.
Still, according to Spanish show Jugones (via Fichajes), the La Roja custodian is close to agreeing on a deal to join Real Madrid in the summer. Los Blancos’ pursuit of a goalkeeper is common knowledge after a difficult campaign for the European champions, and it seems that De Gea is on the top of their goalkeeping wish list.
Nonetheless, the 27-year-old is regarded as one of United best players, and one can imagine that the Red Devils will insist upon a massive transfer fee before considering selling the Spanish goalkeeper. Hopefully for United, there’s another dodgy tax machine knocking around.
David De Gea is one of the world’s most talented goalkeepers, and he’s been an instrumental figure for United since joining from Atletico Madrid. It would be incredibly difficult for the Red Devils to replace De Gea, no matter how much money they’d likely receive for him.
