Tottenham news: Pochettino says Moura not an exciting transfer


Manager Mauricio Pochettino has tried to play down Tottenham fans’ expectations from new January signing Lucas Moura, saying, bizarrely, that he doesn’t find the deal “exciting”.

Moura signed late on in the winter window for a fee said to be £25million but Pochettino has said that he will need time to adapt to his new club.

He also said that while fans might find his signing “exciting” he and the club didn’t.







Talking ahead of Sunday’s huge game with Liverpool, Pochettino was asked if he thought it was an exciting transfer.

“No, no. Exciting? No,” Pochettino said, as quoted by ESPN.

“We signed a player that is not playing at PSG. We signed a player who has not competed for six or seven months.

“Of course he’s an exciting name for our fans. He came from PSG, a big club. But it’s different to signing Neymar, Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.

“The expectation is that he can help us in the next three months but we cannot put too much pressure on him. He needs to adapt, know the players, the Premier League, the philosophy of the new team.”

He also said that it was unlikely that Moura would play any part in Sunday’s game against Liverpool.

“I don’t believe it will be possible for him to be available.”
