Swansea boss Carlos Carvalhal says that with video referee assistance, Newcastle would have been beaten today.
The visiting manager reckoned a certain penalty and red card would have been issued when allegedly, the ball hit Diame’s arm in the first half.
Watching from the stands, I couldn’t recall any big claims for a penalty from Swansea but Carlos Carvalhal said one of his assistants saw a video replay and it was a clear penalty and sending off.
Whatever the truth of that, this was a tough game to watch, as Newcastle wasted a few good chances in the first half, before then struggling to create anything after the break.
Swansea remain bottom of the league but Carlos Carvalhal is confident that help will soon be on its way.
Whilst Rafa Benitez appears to have zero confidence of backing from Mike Ashley, after the game the Swansea boss said he was confident of making two or three good signings in the next few days – ‘My players deserve that we bring in some class players to achieve another level.’
With all the other teams at the bottom also looking to strengthen, this could yet prove a precious point for Rafa Benitez.
