Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly tied down Danny Rose with a new deal, so as to fend off clubs from approaching the left back.

The England international has signed a contract extension for the second time in two years, as Spurs look to keep both the Manchester clubs at bay. The 27-year-old has been out injured since the end of January this year, and is set to miss the start of the new season as well.

Rose has been a pivotal figure for both club and country, and he saw himself getting rewarded with a bumper new deal, as Tottenham vow to fight for the Premier League title under manager Mauricio Pochettino.

According to The Mirror, the two Mancunian giants, United and City, were still interested in the services of the defender, and wanted to prize him away. Further reports also claimed that City boss Pep Guardiola made an 11th-hour attempt to snatch the £40m-rated English player.

This happened during the Citizens’ discussions over Kyle Walker ’s £50m switch to the blue half of Manchester. Pep was impressed with Rose as much as he was with his teammate, as the English duo have been on top form in the Premier League in recent seasons.

United too were said to be interested, with manager Jose Mourinho set to miss both Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo until the end of the year due to injuries. But Tottenham acted quickly to defy the Red Devils, who now have to manage with Daley Blind and Matteo Darmian.
