A massive surprise to see Islam Slimani named in the Algeria squad.
DZ Football have revealed the Algeria squad to face Tanzania and Iran on 21 March and 26 March respectively.
The Newcastle loan striker amongst the 24 players named.
Islam Slimani has not played a single minute in his time at Newcastle and indeed it was 16 January 2018 when he last got any minutes of club football, for Leicester in the FA Cup.
What Rafa Benitez will make of this remains to be seen.
Islam Slimani wasn’t fit enough to be involved on Saturday against Southampton, so for two friendly matches, are Algeria pushing their luck? Especially when they aren’t involved in Russia this Summer.
