Rangers news: Murty reveals what Gers will take from US trip

Rangers manager Graeme Murty has revealed he wants his Gers squad to maintain the high standards they have shown during the club’s trip to Florida and is sure it will help his side improve.

The Gers have spent a week in Florida training before beating Brazilian sides Atletico Mineiro and Corinthians in the Florida Cup.

Despite sluggish starts in both games, the Gers have impressed in the second-half of both and blew away Brazilian champions Corinthians in the second-half of their 4-2 win.

Murty insists his squad now need to carry on the work they’ve done in the United States as they prepare to return to domestic action.

“If we keep that standard high collectively, and it can’t just be me, then we will get better and I think we’ll get better from what we’ve just seen,” Murty said, as quoted by the club’s official website.

“We took the opportunity to come here because it was an opportunity, we took it in a positive manner, to go and actually lay some really good groundwork for the second-half of the season.

“We have to ensure we take the positive feeling we have right now and the positive bonding that we’ve had and take it into the second-half of the season.”

The Ibrox side return to domestic action on January 21st when they travel to tiny Bellslea Park to take on Highland League minnows Fraserburgh in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup.
