For Paul Dummett, he believes it is a job well done.
Newcastle United reaching 41 points with five games still to go, with even Rafa Benitez thinking that the club are now safe from relegation.
The Geordie defender was injured in the opening game of the season and then came back in for the Man City home match in late December.
Since that defeat to the champions, Paul Dummett has played 12 games and Newcastle have picked up five wins and five draws, with only the two defeats.
Having secured safety, the left-back is now targeting those above Newcastle, with Everton only one point above, plus NUFC have a game in hand.
Dummett hopes Newcastle can beat Sam Allardyce’s team and take over ninth spot, they could even go eighth with a victory if Leicester fail to beat Southampton on Thursday night.
Whilst the opening two thirds of the season saw Newcastle bossing things against relegation rivals but struggle again those in the top half, the last seven games have included wins over second (Man Utd), sixth (Arsenal) and eighth (Leicester).
No wonder Paul Dummett declares ‘confidence is high’.
Beating Fat Sam and overtaking the blue scousers would be just so satisfying.
Paul Dummett talking to the official club site:
“I think even with 38 points, it would have been hard for teams to catch us.
“It has been a tough game [against Arsenal] and we knew it was going to be tough before the game.
“Credit to everyone who played as we have managed to get the three points…
