A man has been arrested after a hit-and-run in Dovecot on Sunday afternoon left a man in critical condition.
Police were called to the junction of Campbell Drive and Thingwall Lane to reports of a collision between a large black vehicle and a male pedestrian in his 50s.
The driver failed to stop at the incident and an appeal was made for his whereabouts.
Today detectives confirmed that a 35-year-old man from Old Swan was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and was taken to a police station for questioning.
“The 35-year-old man from Old Swan was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and has been taken to a police station for questioning by detectives.
“The pedestrian is currently in a critical condition in hospital.“
The victim is believed to have been crossing the road when he was struck.
Neighbours told the ECHO the area had been a traffic trouble spot for some time, with people driving up and down the road at high speeds.
One resident said they heard a noise outside their house and so came out into the street.
