Liverpool are interested in beating Arsenal to Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez, according to the reports.
The 26-year-old forward who bagged the PFA Player of the Year award in 2015/16 season, is expected to leave Leicester City after handed them a transfer request.
The Gunners have been long-term admirers of the Algerian winger as he has been identified as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez who has been rumoured to be linked with Bayern Munich move in the recent months.
Competition to secure his signature remains fierce for Liverpool, however, and recently it has been reported that Antonio Conte’s side are also keen on to sign African forward.
Chelsea are in the market for attacking reinforcements, and Mahrez has been on their wishlist.
According to the Daily Mail, Jurgen Klopp is monitoring Mahrez’s situation closely before making a move for his signature.
However, it is believed that the Gunners are the frontrunners to land Algerian winger at Emirates Stadium next season.
Player himself has confirmed his desire to leave the club.
‘I think it would be the right time for me to leave, I have experienced everything at this football club.
‘So for me, it would be the right time to leave. The club and I are on the same page regarding my future, so we’ll see.’
