Bundesliga Star Admits He Turned Down Offer From Liverpool

FC Koln stopper Timo Horn has revealed that as a teenager he had turned down a chance to play for Liverpool.

The 24-year-old keeper who has been one of the best on his position in Bundesliga has been on the radar of Jurgen Klopp since his arrival at Anfield, following the pure form of Loris Karius and Simon Mignolet.

Horn could have joined the Merseyside Reds as a youngster, however, has no regrets over deciding to remain in his country.

“In principle the thought of moving to England is appealing but it’s not something I’m thinking about right now,” he told the Independent.

“I can’t rule it out completely. I often had chances and offers to move to England as a youth player, but in my opinion the best goalkeeping education is here in Germany which is why I’ve always stayed.

“At the age of 15 or 16, Liverpool were very interested in me. But I didn’t go there because I felt the goalkeeping schooling in Germany was much better, and that’s why I stayed in Koln. It wasn’t the wrong decision.”

Liverpool have returned to Champions League football as they will hold their first match against Sevilla, while Koln are planning a trip to Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal in the Europe League competition.
