Bundesliga runner-ups RB Leipzig president Oliver Mintzlaff has rubbished rumours over Bayern Munich’s interest in Timo Werner.
The news will come as a huge boost for Premier League duo Manchester United and Liverpool as both of them tried to lure German attacker earlier in the summer.
Defending Bundesliga champions hosted RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena last weekend and secured a 2-0 victory.
Bayern Munich rolled out the red carpet for the RB Leipzig hierarchy, and Mintzlaff had met with the Karl-Heinz Rummenigge on the launch, and it has cause rumours over Timo Werner’s possible switch to Allianz Arena
However, in-demand forward Werner did not come during the meeting this according to RB Leipzig chief Mintzlaff.
“We had a pleasant lunch and dinner with FC Bayern, with Mr Rummenigge and Mr Hoeness. We talked about everything.” Said Mintzlaff.
“But we did not talk about Timo Werner.
“Therefore there is no enquiry or offer.
“If there were, we would be relaxed and would point to the contract and the happiness of the player”
Werner has found the net for 21 times in the Bundesliga for RB Leipzig last season, while in the current campaign already managed to score six goals.
The 21-year-old could not score at the Allianz Arena though as his side lost 2-0 to Bayern Munich.
