Leeds & Mateusz Klich
News has broken in the Dutch media on Tuesday that Leeds United are poised to make a significant signing.
The Whites, who were in the Championship playoff mix last season, are set to sign FC Twente captain Mateusz Klich.
Algemeen Dagblad have reported that Leeds have already seen one bid for the 27-year-old midfielder rejected, while Twente fully expect Leeds to come back with an improved offer which will seal the deal.
Klich is under contract at Twente until 2019, while last season he scored six goals and added four assists in 29 league games.
No figures have been mentioned for a possible transfer fee, but Klich is loosely valued at €2.25 million.
Who is he?
Klich moved to the Dutch top flight last summer from Kaiserslautern. He’s previously bounced between Germany and Holland having played for Wolfsburg, PEC Zwolle and then Wolfsburg again.
He’s chalked up 10 caps for Poland, scoring once in a 3-2 win against Denmark back in 2013.
Last week, Leeds appointed Thomas Christiansen as their new manager.
Christiansen is a 44-year-old former coach of AEK Larnaca and APOEL, and he’s had success as a head coach and came through the Barcelona youth system in a playing career that included Racing Santander, Villarreal, Oviedo, Bochum and Hannover.
