Joke’s on them’ – Rangers star blasts critics and shows personality required to be a hit at Ibrox

As reported by The Daily Mail, Rangers striker has opened up on what it’s like to receive criticism and abuse from the stands in Scottish football, believing it simply means he is doing a good job as an opposition player.

What’s the story?

Arguably what the Rangers first team has lacked in recent years is the character, personality and belief needed to apply themselves as one of the best sides in the country.

They’ve lacked the winning mentality needed to win on a consistent enough basis to challenge Celtic in either the league or cups and it’s something they’re now addressing in the transfer market.

Striker Jason Cummings, at Ibrox on a loan with an option to buy, has always had a swagger about his game at Hibs and is now bringing that spirit to Graeme Murty’s squad.

When asked about receiving abuse when playing in Scotland, the striker was defiant.

As quoted by The Daily Mail, he said:

I get it every week. I’ve always said that they give stick to the players that are causing them problems. You know what I mean? They wouldn’t give stick to someone that no one has heard of or who isn’t doing well. So I take it as a compliment. It urges me on to score against them. The joke’s on them at the end of the day.
