The 39-year-old is currently plying his trade with Phoenix Rising in the United Soccer League and has decided to concentrate on “other projects” when the following season ends in November 2018.
Drogba has been a part all four of Chelsea’s Premier League title wins and was crucial to 2012’s Champions League triumph.
The striker was twice named in the PFA Team if the Year, twice won the Golden Boot, and in 2007 was named in the FIFPro World XI, Uefa Team of the Year and came fourth in the Ballon d’Or voting.
“Ah, do you want a scoop? I think next year will be my last season,” Drogba told RMC Sport.
“At some point you have to stop. I need to have time for my other projects. It’s good to play, but at 39, it holds me back a bit.”
