Chelsea are ready to let former Celtic target Charly Musonda go out on loan in January.
And Brendan Rodgers could be tempted to launch a new bid for the £5million-rated midfielder he was interested in signing in the last window.
According to the Evening Standard , the English Premier League champions do not consider the Belgium Under-21 star ready for regular first-team football.
Chelsea chastised Musonda for comments he made on social media that appeared to criticise the club over his lack of game-time.
Beside a picture of a black screen, the 20-year-old wrote on Instagram: “You sacrifice, you work hard, harder, you give more than what’s expected, and often more than you can, because you love what you do and clearly more than you should.
“And what do you get back? ‘Literally nothing,… done. However, with this being said I will continue with same dedication and commitment to this great game.”
The post has since been deleted, with Musonda telling Stamford Bridge officials his post was not aimed at the club.
Now Chelsea are ready to farm out the youngster to gain more experience, and the move is not seen as a punishment.
The playmaker has started just one game this season – last month’s 5-1 victory over Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup.
Musonda is due to face Everton later this month in the fourth round before being loaned out in the next window.
The playmaker, who spent two seasons on loan at Real Betis, is contracted to Chelsea for another two years.
Rodgers said in the summer: “He is young but is a big talent who has got experience.
“It’s good money that will be spent on him.
“The player I’m talking about is of a substantial pedigree and quality.
“We have players who can play there but it’s about getting pace and power and also another one that can make the last pass. I felt that was something I wanted to add. We are hopeful we can get that.
“Someone of that ability in there, it’s how the make-up of my teams have always been.
“Look at Liverpool with Daniel Sturridge, Luis Suarez and Coutinho. Bright, clever players who can disorganise defenders. They can attack but they also need to have the profile to press.”
