Having put in an impressive performance against World Cup holders Germany on Friday, with five players also making their Three Lions debut, there is an air of excitement ahead of the clash hard to come by in the qualifiers.
After passing a late fitness test Cahill is available for selection against the five-time World Cup winners, and despite knowing just how tough it will be, he’s looking forward to seeing what a youthful England side can do.
“For us this will be a big test,” Cahill told the Bobby Moore Fund.
“I have played them before and we’ve done okay against them in the past. But they’re always difficult games and it’s always good to test yourself against high-calibre players.
“Neymar is obviously a big global star now but if you put all that to one side his football ability is just magnificent. Neymar, along with others like Willian, the list goes on.
