Arsenal have yet to put in a bid for Jonny Evans and Kieran Gibbs’ move to West Brom has no bearing on the Gunners’ interest in the defender.
Both Manchester City and Leicester City have seen West Brom knock back bids for Evans recently, and the Citizens are expected to try their luck with a fresh proposal before the window closes.
Arsenal are also now showing interest in the Northern Ireland international and are already in touch with West Brom over a deal to sell Gibbs to the Baggies.
But according to the Press Association, Gibbs’ move to West Brom is in no way linked to Arsenal’s interest in Evans.
And the Gunners have yet to make an offer for Evans.
The situation could change before the window shuts, especially as Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is expected to let Shkodran Mustafi join Italian giants Inter.
But Arsenal may have to battle Manchester City in a high-bid high-stakes game to land Evans.
