During the summer and January transfer windows, Mesut Ozil was among the players being touted with a move.
The Arsenal star’s contract was due to expire at the end of the season, which left supporters nervous about the future of one of their key players.
Attention over the German international’s future intensified after his teammate Alexis Sanchez left to join Manchester United in January.
However, instead of moving on to pastures new, Ozil decided to sign a new long-term contract at the North London outfit.
Now, the World Cup winner has opened up about his decision to stay with the Gunners, telling Arsenal Player that the city of London played a role when he was mulling over his options.
As expected, Arsenal fans were delighted that the midfielder committed his future to the Premier League outfit.
In response to Ozil’s latest interview, some have suggested that the financial boost also played a part in the decision-making process.
