Arsenal forward Takuma Asano is to spend another season on loan at VfB Stuttgart, the German club have confirmed.
Japan international Takuma joined Arsenal from Sanfrecce Hiroshima last season for £2million but was swiftly loaned to Stuttgart as he looked to secure the work permit that would enable him to play in England.
Takuma started 21 of Stuttgart’s 34 Bundesliga II games last season, scoring four goals as the five time German champions returned to the top flight at the first time of asking.
However he is yet to play the requisite numbers of games in Europe to qualify for a work permit in England and so will spend at least the next season in the Bundesliga.
Stuttgart’s sporting director Jan Schindelmeiser said: “Takuma Asano will play with us next season. We have discussed this with him, his advisers and Arsenal.”
Takuma is considered one for the future by Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, who on signing the 22-year-old said he would monitor his progress “over the next couple of years”.
