According to reports, Liverpool could be set to defeat Arsenal in the race to sign Wolves youngster Morgan Gibbs-White.
The 17-year-old has been touted as a star for the future as was part of the England under 17 side which won the World Cup which was held in India last month.
Gibbs-White joined Wolves when he was eight-years-old, earning his place in the first team at the beginning of this year having played in each age group of the club’s academy.
His first cameo for the senior team came in the FA Cup third round on 7 January 2017 when he was just 16, and he followed this up with a league appearance in February, against Wigan Athletic.
His performances have led to interest from the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Liverpool. Wolves are not allowed to give Gibbs-White an improved deal until he turns 18 in January.
Gibbs-White’s current contract is set to expire in 2019 and considering that there is interest from some of the biggest clubs in English football, it will be hard to see him staying put at Wolves. Liverpool are reportedly set to be willing to offer £5 million to lure him.
Speaking of the successes which he has recently enjoyed, Gibbs-White said, “I feel privileged to be part of such a big club. The players that the manager has brought in are unbelievable.”
